  • Orlow was part of the National Encampment of the G.A.R., in the Second Division, Gilman E. Sleeper Post, 60, Salem, Commander of 31 men[16].

In 1865, Orlow (23 - worked as a bleacher) lived in Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts with Alfred Chadwick (56 - worked as a merchant), Elizabeth Chadwick (38), Joseph Chadwick (14), Gilbert Chadwick (12) and Franklin Cliff (21 - shoe maker)[17].

On March 11, 1870, Orlow and Isabel's second daughter passed away, in Salem; the cause of death was General Debility[23].

In 1870, Orlow (37 - name spelled with an "e" at the end; age as it appears on the census but must've been closer to 27 and worked in a shoe shop) lived in Methuen, Essex County, Massachusetts, with his father-in-law Charles Merrill (54 - worked as a farmer), his mother-in-law Lydia Poor (Webster) Merrill (51), his sister-in-law Hattie A. Merrill (19 - worked in a shoe shop), his brother-in-law Charles Edwin Merrill (15 - worked on the farm), his wife Isabel M. (24), his (inferred) daughter Hattie L. Austin (1) and Abagail (77)[24].

On September 18, 1889, Hattie Florence Austin (20 - worked as a stitcher) married Daniel A. Abbott (24 - worked as a shoemaker), in Salem, New Hampshire[26].

Orlow Austin (53 years, 3 months and 7 days) passed away, of heart disease, on December 14, 1894, in Salem, Rockingham County, New Hampshire and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, in Salem, Rockingham County, New Hampshire (the same cemetery as my grandparents)[27][28][29][30].
