Biography

JEAN BAPTISTE AUCOIN is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, on Plaque 11 Right, La Ville d'Archangel. Listed with him is his wife, Marguerite Theriot, and five children: Marie, Jean Baptiste, Rose Magdelaine, Rose Anastasie and Pierre.^[1]

Pierre Firmin, a son of Jean Baptiste Aucoin and Marguerite Theriot, was born in Plouër-sur-Rance, Bretagne, France in 1774.^[2]

When Pierre was eleven years of age, his parents immigrated to Louisiana aboard the ship La Ville d'Archangel with their five children, and disembarked in Spanish-ruled New Orleans, Louisiana on 3 December 1785. ^[3]

On 16 August 1796, he married Pelagie Daigle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.^[4]

It is believed that as a widower on 30 July 1812 he married Marguerite Venoy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.^[6] Whether they had children is unknown.

He died in Louisiana at an unknown date after 30 July 1812, the date of his second marriage.
