Born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jimmy and Kay Atkins in 1972. Lived in Portland, Texas until graduating from high school. Went to college at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) for BA and MA, living in San Marcos, TX, and Austin, TX, from 1990-1996. Married Edward (Ward) Sayre in 1992. Moved to Corpus Christi in 1996 to teach at Del Mar College (Communication) and lived there until 1999. Gave birth to Gillian Erin Sayre (now Glenn Erin Sayre) in 1997. Ward completed PhD in Economics from University of Texas in 1999. Moved to Gambier, OH in 1999, working at Denison University and Kenyon College. Ward worked at Kenyon College (Econ). Gave birth to Owen Nicolas Sayre in 2001. Moved to Decatur, GA, in 2001 to attend University of Georgia for a PhD in Communication Studies. Ward taught at Agnes Scott College. PhD completed in 2005 and started working at Agnes Scott College. Moved to Hattiesburg, MS, for both to work at University of Southern Mississippi, in 2007. Ward remains there now (in 2021), while Wendy lives in Hattiesburg and Memphis, TN, since starting as Department Chair of Communication & Film at the University of Memphis.
