Cora Belle Armstrong was born on 21 Sep 1867 in Illinois;[1] she was the daughter of James Armstrong and Mary Hiestand.[2][1] [See Research Notes below regarding her date of birth.]

Smith, who would become in 1904 Cora's 2nd husband, subsequent to the death of her 1st husband in 1903.

Cora S. Smith, daughter of James R. Armstrong and Mary Armstrong, died (age 87) on 28 Jul 1956 in the Newport Hospital, Newport City, Jackson County, Arkansas.[1] The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, which was due to arteriosclerosis. Cora was born on 21 Sep 1867 in Illinois. Her usual occupation had been At Home; her usual residence was in Tuckerman, Jackson County, Arkansas. Cora was widowed. The informant for the death certificate was [her sister] Mrs. Edith Harrison.

Cora Belle (Armstrong) Smith was buried in the Gracelawn Cemetery, Tuckerman, Jackson, Arkansas.[16] [See Research Notes below regarding this source.]

Cora Smith was in an obituary in Aug 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She died (age 87) on 28 Jul 1956.[17]

Research Notes

  • date of birth - primary sources are inconsistent about when Cora was born. Her death certificate records that she was born on 21 Sep 1867,[1] which is consistent with her 1870 federal census enumeration (age 2).[2] However, other primary sources record (i.e., census enumerations & marriage records) that she was born between 1869 - 1870.
  • 1920 - unable to identify a 1920 federal census enumeration for Cora. Hiestand-529 14:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
  • burial - currently, the Find a Grave profile for Cora does not contain a photo of her headstone;[16] and hence I'm unable to verify the information in the Find a Grave profile. Hiestand-529 13:59, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
