DEDICATION This data is dedicated to the pioneering efforts of the Andrews families in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria, Australia. The Andrews families were in the main very staunch Christians and mainly Presbyterians who felt it important to set up worship centres and build churches, often on donated land. As the families grew they had a very effective influence for good in the districts in which they settled. There were connections into such a lot of families in these regions.
Reference
The family record begins with Samuel Andrews who was a native of Ballycairn (also recorded as Ballacrine), Coleraine, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Samuel was born on 25th November 1783 and died in 1873. The 1925 Irish fires destroyed many records, but it is however known that Samuel Andrews married Jane Woodside about 1804 and they had eight children. They resided in Northern Ireland, near Belfast, and were connected with the Blackwoods and Sir James Hamilton, of Killalea. Of the eight children, James, Joseph, Robert, John, Jane and William came to Australia. Many descendants are living today in the Manning and Hastings districts, and over the years had a significant impact on the history of this region in NSW, especially as children from the large families married. They were connected with four large properties:- Woodside, Wauchope House, Coleraine, and Lilybank in NSW. Samuel was a farmer. All but two of their children migrated to either Australia or USA between 1845 and 1847.
