Biography

Thomas Anderson was born in Scotland.

Thomas Anderson (1828-1884) was born on the small island of Papa Little in Aithsting, Shetland on the 14th November 1828. He was the son of a farmer, Thomas Anderson, and Margaret Stout. ^{[1] [2]}

Before 1851 his mother died , his father remarried and they moved across the mainland Shetland settling in Delting parish in a property settlement/property called "Ladie" which he farmed with his father. ^[3]

He married on Christmas Day 1855 in Delting parish to Elisabeth Nicolson ^[4] and she moved into the property. They started a family and by 1861 there were 2 children ^[5] with a further 5 being born subsequently.

He moved to the neighbouring settlement of Millburn before 1871 where he continued as a crofter and fisherman ^[6] but in 1881 he was shown as a weaver. ^[7]

He died at Millburn on the 3rd October 1884. He was shown in the certificate as a fisherman, husband of Elisabeth Nicolson. ^[1]
