Robert was born in 1834 in Nassagaweya township of Halton County in what was Upper Canada, now the Province of Ontario. He passed away in 1914 in the area of Webb, Saskatchewan after having lived a long, hard-working and productive life.
Robert married Nancy McPhedran of Halton County around 1858 and had seven children with her. Nancy died of tuberculosis in 1883 while they were living in Bosanquet township of Lambton County, Ontario. She was buried with three of their children in the old Bradley Cemetery in what is now Forest, Ontario, but the headstone has been moved to the Beechwood Cemetery -- although their remains are not located there.
Robert married again after Nancy died, to Isabella Stephenson whose family lived not far from where his farm was. Robert and Isabella moved into Forest and then to a farm in Dawn township. In 1901, Robert sold the farm and, at some point prior to mid-1907, the family moved to Saskatchewan, where the Stephenson family had migrated to. Robert and Isabella had a total of eight children, the youngest of whom was born in Saskatchewan.
Robert died near Webb, Saskatchewan in 1914. The Old Webb Cemetery where he was buried fell into disuse, but his body was not moved to the North Webb Cemetery as some others were. Now his grave is unmarked and unrecorded, except for the records that the family kept.
