Biography

William Henry Anderson, son of Mary Jane Baxter and James Anderson.

William lived at Enfield, Oamaru and worked as a farm labourer.

His name was drawn in the WWII Ballot 1941. In 1942 he enlisted and was posted to 37th (Mixed) Battalion, 2nd NZEF, 2nd Embarkation, Service No 50283, Rank Private.

Post war, William returned to the Waitaki district and continued working as a farmhand..

He married between 1946 and 1949 to Joan Esme nee ? Children born in the marriage are unknown.

William and Joan settled in Enfield, Waitaki, for some years and later moved to Awarua, Southland between 1954 and 1957. William farmed and ran sheep on his property in Fortification, Awarua.

On 4 October 1990, William died aged 70 at Kew Hospital, Southland. He was buried on 8 October at Eastern Cemetery. BLK/PLOT - SOLDIERS AVENUE - 3/1 .
