I asked for research help from Pam Mercier a well known Lincolnshire UK Gresham family genealogist. This is her reply.
"It’s Christine Alan-Johns family if you look on my tree you should see them. John Joshua was the son of William Gresham 1806-1857 and Ann Hall Barker 1810-1835.
William was the son of Joshua Gresham 1759-1847 my direct ancestor and his 2nd wife Elizabeth Crawford 1768-1866
Joshua was the son of Joshua Gresham 1710-1789 and Elizabeth Kirke 1722
And he was the son of Richard Gresham 1666-1718
My 6th x g grandfather
My latest tree (on Ancestry) is called 271897"
Hi Ron, I have an extensive family tree but have no idea how we connect on gedmatch. Every now and then I have an Alabama match but I can't see how. There is a Forbes/Goldie line in Australia. Sorry I can't help more. Mine are all UK and Ireland then to Australia or New Zealand. There is a Hall in Lincolnshire but I can't see anything else from your tree.
I believe here was a branch of Skellatar line that went to NZ and AUS. They were descendants of Dr. George Forbes b. 1705(1710) that had children in the Bahamas. My Forbus line may be connected to him? I think his son Thomas was a owner in Forbes & Co. that traded with indians on the frontier when Alabama was still Indian territory in late 1700's and early 1800's. His brother or nephew then bought out partners (Leslie, Paton, McGivilray and creek indian chiefs) and renamed it John Forbes & Co. Much of the land he acquired from Creek and Seminole indians (which was most of the current Florida Panhandle) was sold to the U.S. through "The Forbes Purchase". There was litigation over the documents and whether they were procured from the Spanish Crown. Thomas had a brother James Forbes that seems to have been in area as well in late 1700's and there doesn't seem to be much information on this guy.
If you're connect to these Forbes, then maybe that's our connection?? Hmm.
Do you happen to match with descendants of this guy? Forbes-4081
Many trees have him as a descendant of a Skellatar line.
We have a well documented Gresham line from Lincolnshire, UK that migrated to Canada and the US in the late 1800's. Here is the link to those lines on my Gresham Research Tree. It will say "Anita's line" on each profile.

If Christine's account does get closed, may I be placed as the PM for her profile, since I am already on the trusted list for her and I did create her parents profiles. Christine and I are distant cousins (3rd or 4th I think). I am also the PM for her parents so I need to open those, but I will wait and see what you do with Christine's profile.
Sadly I dont have any up-to-date email for her. I have not been on contact with her for several years.
We have been unable to deliver email to you so we changed your email settings to reduce the number of messages we send. If we can't reach you soon your account will need to be closed.
Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to start with yourself and add sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. 24 hours later, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear.
Let me know if you have any questions, and have fun!
Congrats, Christine, on being a Family Member of WikiTree!

I started genealogy when I was 14 when my grandfather turned 100. It has been a consuming passion for nearly 50 years. My ancestry comes from England Scotland Ireland and Italy. My husband and I are both Anglican priests and have two young adult sons.
