John married Cassandra Kemp on 9 Mar 1873 in Monroe, Florida.[1] In 1885, the couple was living in Key West, Monroe County, Florida. John was working as a seaman.[2] They were still in Key West in 1900. The census stated they had been married 27 years and nver had any children.[3]
His brief obituary mentions that he was married and had at least two sisters and a brother who were still alive at the time of his death. It further mentions he was a member of the Tiger Tail Tribe of Red Men, a secret society of white men who based their rituals on Native American rituals. [4]
When he passed away in 1907, he was buried in the Key West Cemetery, Key West, Florida.[5]
