Biography

About Mary, we know little. She and her mother were servants in a household in Bishops Waltham, Hants, while Owen was a gardener there. Owen and Mary married in 1860 and her mother Martha came to live with them when Owen took a position at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, Gloucester[1].

Owen and Mary had five children. The sixth child, a son, and Mary both died during childbirth in 1875.

Owen is buried with Mary and their dead infant at a cemetery in Cirencester. Mary's mother Martha is buried in unconsecrated ground at the same churchyard.
