Can someone please help with Russian & Lithuanian Jewish

Question

I know absolutely zero about Jewish Research. This family immigrated to the United States from Lithuania and Russia.  I am trying to help my beloved friend discover the story. So far I have found all US documentation necessary but we need to get back to the old countries to discover more of the story for him   Could someone please guide me in completing the tree.  Also I would appreciate help in categorizing this as a proper Jewish family.

I use it for my Holocaust research

and there is no "J" in most Yiddish dialects

look for Beniamin or similar spellings and ABRAMSON may be rendered as AVRAMSON
