Biography
Henry was born in Ship Harbour. Some sources claim he married in 1851, not 1865.[1]. The name of his wife is given, variously, as Nancy or Agnes Blakely or Blakeny[2]There births of Angus Walter and Adeline Matilda recorded to Henry Newcomb and Nancy Blakely, on Aug 1 1865, are before their recorded marriage date of Aug 10 1865.[3][4] Henry Newcomb married Nancy Blakely on 10 June 1865 in Ship Harbour, Halifax, Nova Scotia.[5][6]
In the 1871 census Henry Newcomb (age 56) was recorded as married in Jeddore, Halifax, Nova Scotia.[7] Henry was a seaman, could not read or write. Ethnicity listed as "English". In the 1881 census Henry Newcomb (age 66), Lumberman, was recorded as married in Jeddore, Halifax, Nova Scotia.[8]
Henry Newcombe died on 15 September 1900 and was buried in Ship Harbour, Halifax, Nova Scotia.[9]
