Joseph Cooper was born on July 6, 1835 in Rathdrum, County Wicklow, Ireland, son of Joseph Cooper (1813–1879) and Ellen Byrne (1815–1883).[1]
Joseph (27) married Hellen Margaret Pickford (17) (born on February 25, 1848 in Yeovil, Somerset, England, United Kingdom; daughter of Hubert Foot Pickford and Hellen Strangroom) on June 25, 1865 in South Australia, Australia.[2]
