The Lost HOWARD's of Northamptonshire - Cellars, Cartage and Convicts.

Please see Howards of Northamptonshire for details.

Due to the unexpected DNA link between the decendants of Frederick Howard (c1811-1872) and John HOWARD (1785-1864) I've started an attempt at joining the two families.

John has four known sons:

Frederick appears in Adelaide in June 1846 — just months after Shadrach (a convict) disappears there.

Are they the same?

Will DNA analysis reveal all?

Please take this as a call-out to all known descendants to consider contributing with either documentary or DNA evidence.

To all those that have experience piecing together DNA evidence for unknown relationships - I'd love to know how you think I should proceed.

Thanks!

Given the range of birth dates and the gaps between them there could be more siblings.
No death for Shadrach, no birth or immigration for Frederick, shared DNA, all support the idea that they are the same person.

Thanks Gary,

I agree - we always thought it strange we had only two children to John, and then another researcher found two more (thanks Pat). The gaps between children certainly leave room for more.

The fact that William BARRETT, convicted and transported with Shadrach HOWARD, turns up as an executor for Fredrick HOWARD's will seems to be more than coincidence.

Frederick is in Kensington, William in Reed Beds. They would not normally cross paths.

Thanks Peter,

I hope that a HOWARD male from John's known family feels inspired to take a test some day.
