Biography

Sarah was born around the year 1777, most likely in Virginia. She moved with her parents Vincent and Tabitha to Kentucky at a young age. She married John McMurtry, and had several children with him before his death sometime after 1818. She likely died around the year 1821.

Research Notes

The first name for this profile appears as "Sally" in her father's will^[1]. and on her FamilySearch profile.^[2] In the 1820 census^[3] her first name appears as "Sarah." These are the only known records/documents with her name on them.

The 1820 census record finds her neighbor to Jacob Holsclaw. Sally/Sarah's daughter Tabitha married Jacob's son John Holsclaw in 1828. In that record she is between the ages of 26-45.
