Biography

Mary Williams was born in about 1842 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.

She married Robert Hardicker (aka Hardiker, Hardaker, Hardacre), and they had at least nine children:

• No registration has been located for the oldest son, but all of the others were registered with the surname Hardicker/Hardiker and mother's maiden name Williams.

In 1881 Mary Hardaker (age 40, Cotton Weaver) lived at Ridgeway St in Manchester with her husband Robert (54, Carter) and seven children: Joseph W (20, Spring Maker), Mary (15, Cotton Weaver), Robert (12, Scholar), John (8, Scholar), Arthur (6, Scholar), Elizabeth (4, Scholar), and Agnes (2), as well as boarder Sarah E Day (37, Dress Maker).^[1]

In 1891 Mary Hardicker (age 50, Weaver Cotton) lived in Manchester with her husband Robert (60, Carter) and six children: John (18, General Labourer), Arthur (16, Porter Marker), Elizabeth (14, General Servant), Agnes (12, Scholar), Timothy (8, Scholar), and Mary Ford (25, Weaver Cotton), as well as son-in-law John Ford (28, Carter) and three grandchildren: John Ford (7, Scholar), Robert Ford (4, Scholar), and Mary Ford (2).^[2]

Mary's husband passed away before 1901.

In 1901 Mary Hardicker (age 59) lived at Ajax Street in Manchester in the household of her son Arthur (27, Carter Chemical Works), along with her daughter-in-law Mary (22), grandson Arthur (1), granddaughter Mary E (0), and son Timothy (18, Labourer Foundry).^[3]

Mary Hardicker passed away in 1908, aged 65 years. Her death was registered in Prestwich, Lancashire in the first quarter of the year.^[4]
