Biography

Elvin Luther Williams is a part of US Black heritage.

Elvin Luther Williams was born on 12 March 1923 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.^[1] At the time of the 1930 Census enumeration, he lived with his mother, sister, uncle, and two boarders in Lacoochee, Pasco County, Florida. His father was not enumerated with them.^[2] At the time of the 1935 Florida Census enumeration, his father had rejoined the family and they lived in Tampa, Florida.^[3] By 1940, they were back in Lacooche and his mother was married to Alphonso Hawkins.^[4] In 1942 he registered for the World War II draft in Lachoochee. He worked at Cummer Sons Cypress where his mother's husband worked. ^[1]

Sometime before December 1978, he moved to the west coast. He and his wife were members of Club Arcturus in Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California.^[5]

Elvin "Bill" died on 1 February 2012 in California.^[6] He has a gravestone in Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, Lompoc.^[7]
