Biography

Catherine's Marriage Cert states she was born in Gippsland, the daughter of a policeman, Patrick Whyte. At the time of her marriage she was living in Fitzroy, Victoria and working as a waitress.

Official documents show a discrepancy in Catherine's age. She is shown as 19 at the time of her marriage and 22 at the time of the birth of her daughter 14 months later.

Another discrepancy concerns her place of birth. Her marriage cert shows it to be Gippsland, in eastern Victoria, while the birth cert. for her daughter Elizabeth shows it as Murchison, in central Victoria.
