Hi Mary,

Welcome to Wikitree. We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Hickory Grove was a previous name for Rochelle, Ogle, IL.

I'm very glad to see another of my Ogle County offerings being improved upon. Collaboration sure can be a wonderful thing, can't it!?!?!?!

Hi Mary,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans to understand what to do next.

Hi Mary

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 619 contributions to Wikitree, thank you!

You may want to add some tags on your page indicating a family name for one tag and a specific location like (country) or ( state) for another tag. Then add other surnames or locations as tags as desired. That way you will be connected to others with the same interest.

Click on http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following to add or remove tags. Be sure to add comments about why you're following the tags. Those appear on your profile too.

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Here are our WikiTree projects you might like to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects .

Hi Mary, I quite possibly am wrong. Please make corrections as you see fit with supporting Sources. I am not sure which profiles are in question as I work on all different families. Thanks for your help!

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Free-Space_Profile Free Space pages] are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom…… They’re “anything pages.”

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out ourBiography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you’ll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Hi Mary,

Just a quick PS

Don't forget to Head over to the G2G forum. and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House or ask a question in any of the other categories. There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: for that "special" ancestor who is eluding you.

if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

Best Wishes, and have fun adding your leaves and branches!

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community! Please remember that we are trying to build one Collaborative Global Family Tree which means only one profile per person. It is important to ensure that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

To help you get started, check out an introductory WikiTree video that a member created. For member benefits, see our Community Members page.

We also have a Mentor Team who will be glad to answer questions and help you with any specific problems.

Welcome and Enjoy!

Hi Mary,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Have fun!

I am Mary Lynn White, born 1945, Junction City Kansas. I have been told that I am a descendant of the New Jersey Quaker Whites but have not seen the evidence connecting Henry White 1763-1827 of western Maryland with Josiah White II 1705-1780 of New Jersey. I am also interested in family lines of Bannister, Miller, Edmonds, and Thorpe.
