Philip,

My mothers maiden name was Maycroft and I've been researching the family lineage. I'm pretty certain I've traced it back to some immigrants from Norfolk, England that came to the states in the middle 1800's. The puzzling thing is that my research is pointing me to a "Macrow" family, also in Norfolk (and a bit in Suffolk...Cambridgeshire too, you know how that goes). Three of the men who came over to the US (Canada) were born Macrow. But at various times changed their name over to Maycroft. Have you run across this family crossover in your Macrow research?

Thank you,

Cory

Hello Philip,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Dear Hilary, thank you for your kind reply and for your invitation to join the England Project. I'm apprehensive, but I think I would enjoy it. As we English say, it's right up my street. May I think about it for a week and get back to you?

Very best wishes, Phil Watson

Hi Philip,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

Thank you Ludwig for your kind welcome.

I'm enjoying piecing my tree together. Having signed the Honour Code I'm checking all my information very carefully before I enter it. I'm hoping one day to enter an ancestor already in the Tree; then I can work with others and share information. Best wishes, Philip Watson

Dear Hilary, thank you for your kind welcome to WikiTree.

I'm building my tree slowly and carefully, and the more ancestors I add (I'm now on my 3×great grandparents), the more information I'm putting in the Notes box. Can I get back into the Notes for the more recent generations entered earlier to add for instance an occupation? With best wishes, Philip Watson
