Biography

Creed Haskins Taylor, the son of Peter Taylor and Nancy Crosthwait was born February 25, 1808 in Madison, Kentucky and died in 1832 (aged 24) in Madison, Kentucky. He married Elizabeth L Duncan on 8 Aug 1827 in Madison, Kentucky, United States. ^[1]

In 1830 Creed Haskins Taylor was living in Madison, Kentucky. Total persons within his household were 19 of which 14 were slaves.^[2][3]

Creed died intestate about April 1832 at the age of 24. An Administrator's Bond to Creed Taylor's estate was signed by William Harris and John Duncan on 7 May 1832 in Madison County. ^[4]

Research Notes

Creed was about 4 year old when his father, Peter Taylor passed away in 1812 of a stroke. After his father's death, his mother "Nancy had a new house built on the property. It was on a high hill and, counting the protruding basement with windows, was three stories high. Nancy had extensive gardens on the southern end of the house. At the end of the garden the family graveyard was on the brow of the hill. It had sarcophagus or table-type monuments on stone foundations about two feet high. The graves were in two rows, east to west with a walk in between. Their son, Brockman, who died in 1794 at the age of 6 was the first buried there. His father, Peter, was buried in 1812 next to him. Nancy was later buried next to Peter after she died in 1835. There are ten graves total."
