Biography

James was born about 1821 in Skirlaugh, Yorkshire, England, daughter of William Taylor and his wife Ann (née Frost).^[1]

11th February 1821: Baptism of Jane at Skirlaugh.^[1]

2nd October 1839: Death of her sister, Rachel.^[2]

24th October 1843: Death of her sister, Leah.^[3]

19th November 1843: Death of her mother, Ann.^[4]

1851: Housekeeper, resident at South Skirlaugh. She lives with her father, who runs a Grocer's shop.^[5]

8th April 1857: Death of her father, William, who is accidentally killed by the overturning of a cart.^[6]

11th February 1858: Marriage of James Witter Garton and Jane Taylor at Skirlaugh, Yorkshire. Jane is recorded as a shopkeeper on the marriage certificate.^[7] Known issue:-
