Biography
I was born on Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, but because my father was active duty for a lot of my childhood I ended up growing up in a few different places. Whiteman AFB for the first part of my life, Mountain Home AFB in Idaho for a while, and even Aviano AFB in Italy for a few years. But I spent a majority of my time growing up on a small farm in rural North Dakota. I graduated from Hatton Eielson High School in 2013 and recently obtained a degree in Software Engineering from Valley City State University. After graduating I packed up and moved out to Virginia, where I'm currently living and working as a web developer.
I think my interest in genealogy stems from growing up away from mine. There's something about finding about relatives long forgotten that makes you feel connected. Knowing where we come from and our past stories has become something like an addiction and I live to find out more.
My recent research subject has been greatly influenced by my grandmother, who I just found out was adopted (not a secret, but apparently was never thought to be said). She doesn't know her father, but she does know who her mother was. Her Haddix line comes from a small town in West Virginia and it fascinates me to know more about it. I've dedicated a lot of my time into finding out more and documenting all of the Haddix's I can find on this tree to connect as many of them as I can.
I've discovered a lot about my family in the last few months than I ever knew before I started this journey. We're pioneers and country builders, patriots and true mountain people. There's so much history and stories to be uncovered and told, and I'm so glad to be able to contribute and help spread them.
