Biography

Isaac was baptized May 8, 1768[1], and was likely born at Round Top, in the Catskill Mountains of New York[2]and may have died around 1848 in or near Rome, Bradford Co., Pennsylvania[3]

The Jones and Strope sources noted below both provide biographical sketches of Isaac which I have briefly paraphrased below.

Isaac moved with his family to Wysox in Bradford Co., Pennsylvania. and in 1778, when he would have been about 10, was captured with them and taken to Canada for the duration of the Revolutionary war. A few years after the war the family returned to settle again in Bradford County. It appears that Isaac married Abigail White (per Jones), but there had long been uncertainty over Abigail's maiden name (per Strope). Isaac taught the first school in the area. By 1796 Isaac and Abigail owned about 50 acres of land and a cow. Isaac's date and place of death is reported to be unknown, but Abigail died July 17, 1848 at the age of 73 years and is buried in the Rome cemetery. Their children were:

John, born April 3, 1792
Deborah, baptized March 2, 1794, married Michael Russell
Isaac, baptized April 1, 1796
Margaret, born December 3, 1797, married John Parks
Henry, born January 8, 1800, married Wealthy Ann Rutty
Rachel, born March 5, 1802, married Nathaniel Bennett
William, Born 8 March 1804, married Abigail Russell
Samuel, born February 7, 1807, married Henrietta Moore, then Olive L. Brague
Mary, born about 1809, married Enos Bennett
Permelia, married Godfrey Eiklor
Alfred, born about 1815, married Clarissa Bailey
Elisha, born September 4, 1817

Strope-125 and Strope-68 appear to represent the same person because of profiles in common and should be merged.
