building had a rooftop jail, used until 1979.
- Comments from the photographers: Art-Deco details of the district courtroom were covered by false walls and a dropped ceiling. Renovation of the courtroom a restoration to its original splendor, including the reconstruction of the wood floor molding, balustrades and many pieces of furniture. Many elements of the original courtroom remained intact, enabling craftsmen to use those portions as a frame of reference for the more damaged areas."--comments by Terry Jeanson, Courtesy of Texas Escapes[4]
