Biography

Eliza (Smith) Malone is a part of US Black heritage.

Eliza was born about 1861. She was the daughter of Moses and Martha Smith.[1] [2]Eliza was a school teacher in Fayette Co., Georgia prior to her marriage to Turner Malone. Eliza was the second wife of Turner R. Malone. Turner's first wife Hannah passed away while giving birth to their daughter Luella. Eliza and Turner had seven children.

After Eliza's husband died, she went back and forth between Chatanooga, Tennessee and Rome, Georgia for about a year. After spending time in Newton, Georgia, Atlanta Georgia, Lexington Kentucky, she returned to Chatanooga.

In 1910 she was living with her daughter Emma and her family in Hamilton County, Tennessee. She passed away in 1913 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was buried in her parent's cemetery plot in Newnan, Coweta Co., Georgia[3]

Eliza married Farmer Malone on 4 January 1877 in Coweta, Georgia, United States.[4]

1880 census Turner (age 33), Farm Hand, was the married head of household in District 1293, Fayette, Georgia, United States.[5]

Eliza was listed as a widow [penciled in after his death in 1908] in Turner "Buck" Malone's U.S., Civil War Pension record, June 9,1889 (Invalid cert. 754.856, GA) Class was marked invalid since he was still living. After her husband died, she applied for a widow's pension on 7 of March 1910 (751.570, GA) Class stated as widow.
