Biography

Martha Smith was born about 1799 in Ireland. She married Andrew Coulter from County Down, in Ireland about 1817. They immigrated to Canada about 1822, first living in Toronto and then settling in Etobicoke, Ontario where they raised a large family. They were farmers, business owners and active in their community. Much has been written about their family and their home at 112 Ravenscrest Drive, Etobicoke, which is a provincially designated heritage home.

In 1871 Martha, age 70, was staying with her daughter, Isabella Price, in Peel, Toronto, Ontario. There are two grandchildren in the household.^[1]

Martha died about 1877 in Mimico Valley, York, Toronto, Ontario. She was buried beside her husband in the Richview Cemetery in Etobicoke, Toronto Municpality, Ontario, Canada. ^[2]
