I turned 18 on 20 Aug 1966 and 2 days later joined the USAF under Delayed Enlistment. I became an active member on 17 November 1966 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB, TX on 2 Jan 1967. I went to tech school at Lowry AFB, CO and graduated as a Photo Systems Repairman. I was assigned to the 23TFW at McConnell AFB, KS and worked on F-105D/F, T-33, T-39, and F-100C aircraft. I then transferred to Vietnam on 27 May 1968. I was first at Tan Son Nhut AB and then Cam Ranh Bay, AB. I worked on F-4C camera systems and also did some time as a photographer and processor. I left Vietnam one year later and was assigned to 1st ACGS, Forbes AFB, KS. There I worked on RC-130A, RC-135A, and RB-57D aircraft. My next assignment was to the 75TRW at Bergstrom AFB, TX. There I worked RF-4C aircraft. I transferred to 10TRW, RAF Alconbury, UK on 15 Jul 1971 and again worked RF-4C aircraft. I returned to the states in June 1975 and was assigned to 3448SS, Lowry AFB, CO as an instructor in the same school I had attended back in 1967. In 1978 I changed career fields and went to Chanute AFB, IL to become a Flight Simulator Technician. I then was assigned to 22BW, March AFB, CA as a KC-135 Cockpit Procedures Trainer Technician and then Supervisor. The Air Force recalled me back to the photo career field in 1981 and I returned to Lowry AFB, CO where I completed my 20 years and retired on 1 Dec 1986.
