Pvt. Sehon Powers was a POW in the forage train incident of January 21, 1863 during The United States Civil War.
Sehon, the son of John Wesley and Miranda (Gee) Powers was born in 1844 in Ellsworth, Ohio.
When Sehon was 18, he enlisted (as Wilson S. Powers) to fight in the U.S. Civil War for the Union. He mustered in on 20 August 1862 and out on 3 June 1865. He served with Company C, the 105th Ohio Infantry enlisting 11 August 1862.
He was captured by the Secesh while foraging on 21 January 1863 and subsequently released.[1][2]
Sehon was married twice. He married 1) Martha (aka Mattie) Holly (1842-1878) on 14 November 1866 in Portage, Ohio. They had three children:

Miranda Powers (b. 11 Mar 1871, Trumbull, OH; d. 24 Aug 1915, Lincoln, NE), m. John Swenson (1840-1923)
John Wesley Powers (b. 1874; d. 1927), m. Elizabeth L. Justi
Mattie died in 1878. Sehon married 2) Sylvia Lucille MacNish, daughter of Dr. James and Nancy Ann Sylvia (Tofflemire) MacNish on 10 January 1881 in Grand Island, Nebraska.[3]Sehon and "Lucille" had three sons:
James MacNish Powers (b. 1881; d. 1911), m. Edith Louise Hill (1877-1965)
Sehon Wadsworth Powers (b. 1885; d. 1956), m. Lois Isabel Horstman (1894-1987)
Walter Furman Powers (b. 1886; d. 1935), m. Frances "Fannie" Hull (1887-1969)
Sehon Wilson Powers died on 6 November 1887 at 43 years of age in Saco, Phillips, Montana [needs source]. He is buried in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney, Buffalo, Nebraska.[4]
Lucille and her sons migrated from Kansas to California around 1890. She married 2) Myron George Manley (1844-1927). His first wife, Laura Pease (Cleveland) Manley died in 1910. Lucille and Myron married on 13 April 1915 in Los Angeles, California.[5] This was a second marriage for both. There were no children from this union.
