Death
Thomas Porcher died in 1835. He wrote his will 11 Nov 1833, a codicil 13 Feb 1835, and it was proven 1 Jun 1835.[2][3]
Headstone vs. will:
The headstone for Thomas Porcher appears to state he died 1836,[4] however his will was proven in 1835.[2] There is a discrepancy somewhere.
Slaves
Thomas Porcher was a slaveholder. He listed the slaves he owned in his will and his probate inventory (12 Jan 1836). There were 169 slaves listed after his death.[5] There was a division of inventory 19 May 1838, and the slaves were moved to respective owners.[6]
