Research Notes
No contemporary record involving Jane gives her a middle name of Hyde. Other than online family trees or poorly sourced collections, none of the sources for Jane give a middle name Hyde. It was unsual to have a middle name at this time. If a contemporary primary source can be found listing this name, please provide it.
The name "Jane Hyde Parker" does appear in Brainard's Isham genealogy,[8] however it is specifically in the context of the second "tradition" on John Isham's origin; that she was the wife of Captain John Isham, son of Thomas Isham of Pitchley. Braniard has this to say about that origin:[9]
"The second tradition is a constructed story, concocted by some unscrupulous genealogist for consumption by credulous and trusting Americans... In correspondence with the compiler Mr. Longden [whom Brainard called 'a very careful historical investigator'] demonstrated that in all respects this second tradition was a stupid forgery, wholly in conflict with historical fact, although it mentions real persons.
