Biography

I was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England in the 1950s, and have lived in the United Kingdom all my life. Three sixteenths of my family on my maternal side have been in south Lincolnshire/Leicestershire from the 1800s and earlier. I have a maternal grandmother who was born in Kent in the 1890s, and a quarter of my family have been solidly in Kent for at least 200 years. I have a maternal great great grandfather who was born in Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland in the 1830s. My father is unknown to me but AncestryDNA revealed my half brother Geoffrey Reynard who was born four months after me in the same marternity hospital on Dysart Road in Grantham. Geoffrey passed me the message that he understood that our father was from Ukraine, and so it looks like our father arrived in England in the 1940s, along with tens of thousands of other people from Ukraine. My DNA results show a shared ethnicity with people in the region of Ukraine, but also with people in the Germanic region.

Hi Mike,

The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.

Regards Joan

Hi Mike,

I've not heard back from your regarding the England Project check-in. I've sent two messages to you previously. I hope you are ok.

One of the requirements for England Project membership is that you respond to the check-ins. Requirements can be found on the England Project page. I've gone ahead and removed you from the project. We are sorry to see you go but you would be most welcome to rejoin via the G2G sign up post at any time.

Best wishes,

Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Hi Mike,

I sent you a message a while ago on behalf of the England Project Leaders and have yet to heard back from you. I hope you are well.

One of the requirements of membership in the England Project is that you respond to the six-monthly check-ins.

If I don’t hear from you in the next week or so I’ll assume you no longer wish to be in the project and go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time via the G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes,

Susie :-)

Hi Mike,

On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Team Member for Lincolnshire and Kent. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.

Are you happy to stay in your current teams and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Mike thanks for your message.

They already have profiles on the tree managed by one of the other researchers interested in the Roslings. You may find other connections with my profiles as my husband's family are from that area and he also has Parker line in Rutland.

Hi Mike, Thanks for choosing the Ireland Project.

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details.

The Teams are :-

1. Categories Team
2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team
5. Profile Improvement Team
6. Topics Team
7. Diaspora

? Can you let me know which team(s) you’d like to join.

Many thanks,

Maria

Hi Mike,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Mike. Thanks for your message on G2G.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page. Here you can let others know which counties or names you are researching etc.

Thanks for joining the project and good luck with your research.

Take a look at the pages and let me know how you'd like to help. Also be sure to say hi to Michael, the Ukrainian Roots sub-project lead.  :D - Summer

P.S. I've added you to the trusted list for the project pages.
