J.L. was a doctor by trade, although he also farmed. Following his second marriage, J.L. worked as a pharmacist. He was repairing his home's roof when he fell to the ground and died of his injuries. His obituaries or funeral notices, which were apparently placed by his first family, do not mention the second wife and list his death location as occurring in Creek County, which is incorrect. [1][2] No death certificate has been located as it was not too long after statehood that he died and records were sparsely kept.
