Marjorie was born in 1949. She was the daughter of Frank William Mowlam and Bettina Mary Rogers. Marjorie's birth was registered in 1949 in Hertfordshire, England. They were the child of Rogers.[1]
She grew up in Coventry where her father became the city's assistant Postmaster, before attending Trevelyan College, Durham University, reading sociology and anthropology. She settled in the North East after graduating.
Mo entered Parliament in 1987, winning the north-eastern constituency of Redcar. She retained the seat in 2 subsequent elections before standing down.
Marjorie's marriage to City of London banker Jonathan P Norton was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1995 in the Central Cleveland district.[2][3] They did not have any children, but he had two children from a previous marriage.
Mo was diagnosed with a brain tumour a few months before the 1997 general election which would put her party into office. Despite this she accepted the appointment as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and played an integral role in the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 that ended the long-standing conflict in the province.
She later served as Cabinet Secretary in the Blair government.
Marjorie died on 19 August 2005 and was buried in 2005 in State.[4]

Her husband passed away in 2009.

I had a look at the sources and also at the sources on her wikipedia profile. Did she ever use the surname Norton? There's no legal requirement in the UK to adopt a husband's surname and the registration of her death is certainly under the name Mowlam.
