Samuel Moore was born in 1775, in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, just prior to the onset of the American Revolutionary War and died on Independence Day, in 1843. Samuel's father, Captain Thomas Moore, was a Veteran of the American Revolutionary War, having served in a Ranger company, under the command of Colonel Theophilus Phillips, of the Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania Militia. In 1814, Samuel married Jennette McCullough. Their daughter, Isbel Martha Moore, married James R. Ramsey, son of Robert Ramsey and Susanna Leeper. Jennette, who was born in 1778, in Beaver county, Pennsylvania, died December 3, 1838 and was buried in the Old Mill Creek Cemetery, in Hookstown. Samuel died July 4, 1843 and was buried with her. There are photographs of their headstones on their Find A Grave memorials. [2]
Samuel's Find A Grave memorial indicates that he was born in Beaver county, however that county was not established until after the Revolutionary War (1800 to be exact) DAR records indicate that Samuel's father was born in 1750, in Fairfax county, Virginia and had made his residence in Westmoreland county prior to the Revolution.
