Biography

Mary (Moore) Allen was born in Kentucky.

Mary M. Moore was born 13 March 1835 in Kentucky, United States.[1] She was the daughter of Bryant Moore and Chelly Uzell.

A marriage license was issued 12 December 1849 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, for Mary Moore and Richard A. Allen.[2] They were married by Rev P. S. Loving on 24 December 1849 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[3] They were the parents of five children, all born in Hopkins County, Kentucky.

In the 1850 U.S. census, Mary Allen was recorded as 16 years old, living with husband Richard A. Allen in District 1, Hopkins, Kentucky.[1] The 1860 census shows the couple living in P.O. Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky with their two sons.[4] In the 1870 census, Mary, Robert and their five children, were recorded living in P.O. Madisonville, Precinct 2, Hopkins, Kentucky.[5] The 1880 census shows Mary, Richard and three children, Henry, Alvy and Eliza living in District 3 (Court House), Hopkins, Kentucky. Their oldest son Ampudia and his family were recorded in the neighboring household.[6] By 1900, Mary and Richard were empty nesters, but their sons Henry and Ampudia were recorded in the neighboring households in Barnsley, Hopkins, Kentucky. The record shows they were married for 51 years and that she was the mother of five children, all living.[9]



Mary (Moore) Allen, age 75, died 7 July 1910 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, and was buried at Concord Cemetery #1 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[10]
