Notes: Mary Ann's Obituary indicated she is buried in Moro, implied with her husband at the local Moro Cemetery. No definitive proof of this burial has been found. Have checked records in Moro, Oregon at City Clerk's office. The former Odd Fellows Cemetery is now under the city. City records are not definitive. Gravesite Details: There is no headstone for Mary Ann, though there is one for her husband Lemuel.

Biography

Mary Ann Moore was born December 1845 in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois, USA[1][2] Her parents are believed to be Nathaniel Moore and Mary (Polly) Wood.

She married Lemuel Sells on 6 March 1862, in Macoupin, Macoupin, Illinois, United States.[3] They were the parents of at least 4 sons: John William-Willie (1866,) Palmer (1869), Emmett (1870), George Michael (1873), and 2 daughters: Josephine R (1872-1872) and Ada Lenore (1876).

In 1870, Lemuel, Mary Ann and children lived in Macoupin County, Illinois.[4]She lived in South Otter Township, Macoupin, Illinois, United States in 1880[5]. He lived in Dickinson, Kansas, United States in 1895[6] and and Abilene, Dickinson, Kansas, United States in 1900[7]. By April of 1910, Lemuel, his wife, son Emmett and his wife Anna, were living at Erksine, Sherman, Oregon.[8]

Mary Ann's husband, Lemuel, died in 1910, in Moro, Sherman, Oregon. By 1913, Mary Ann had moved to Oakland, California, USA, near her daughter, Ada Lenore Sells Angel.[9] In 1920, she is a boarder in Berkeley, Alameda, California.[10]

SELLS—In Berkeley. April 4. 1930. Mary Ann, wife of the late Lemuel Sells and mother of Mrs. Ada Sells Angel of Berkeley, George M. and Emmet Sells of North Bend, Oregon; a native of Jacksonville, Ill., aged 83 years. Funeral and Interment: Moro, Oregon.

Mary Ann passed away in April 4, 1930 residing in Berkeley, California. [11][12]. She was buried in Moro, Sherman, Oregon where her husband is buried.[13]
