Harriet was Choctaw Citizen by Intermarriage.

Hattie was born 10 Jan 1876 in Texas, the daughter of Samuel Montgomery and Martha Davis. Hattie passed away 14 Oct 1956 at Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas.[2] She is buried at the Ryan Cemetery, Ryan, Jefferson County, Oklahoma.[3]

Frank Spain married Hattie Montgomery 10 May 1893 in North Galveston, Texas.[4]

William Franklin Spain made application for his wife, Hattie E. Spain to the Dawes Commission for a land allotment from the Choctaw Nation. An examination by the Commission; In the matter of application of Hattie E. Spain for enrollment as an Intermarried citizen of the Choctaw Nation was conducted on 24 October 1902.[5] The decision of the Commission as to being a Choctaw by Intermarriage on 10 October 1903 approved the enrollment and Hattie E. Spain was recognized as a citizen of the Choctaw Nation.[6] Intermarried Choctaw or Chickasaw Citizen was a person that lived in the Choctaw or Chickasaw Nation and married a citizen of Choctaw or Chickasaw blood. They also had married under Choctaw or Chickasaw license or had been married prior to the requirement of having a Choctaw or Chickasaw license. An Intermarried Citizen was recognized by the Dawes Commission for eligibility of land allotments. The Examination by the Commission generally provides names, dates of marriage, where and who performed the marriage
