James was born in 1895. He was the son of Silas McWhorter and Sarah Dozer. He passed away in 1987.

2. He married Dorsa Bates on 22 July 1939 in Vinton, Elk Township, Vinton, Ohio. Their children were Ethel (McWhorter) Johnson and Lawrence 'Sonny' McWhorter.
