Samuel McCobb was born in 1707 in Ireland, probably in County Tyrone. He emigrated to New England with his brother James in 1729; their ship left Londonderry bound for Philadelphia, but bad weather forced them to land at the mouth of the Kennebec River in Maine. They stayed for a while in the settlement there, called Arrowsic, before moving to Boothbay[1].
Samuel married his wife Mary around 1738 in Boothbay. They had seven children[2]:
1. William, born 1740; married Rachel ________
2. John, born 1744; married Mary Beath
3. James, born ca. 1746; married Sarah Allen
4. Jean, born ca. 1748; married 1st John Fullerton, 2nd James Carven
5. Frances, born 1750; married James Auld
6. Mary, born 1753; married John Auld
7. Samuel, born 24 May 1755; married Sarah McFarland
Samuel passed away on 8 February 1791[3] in Boothbay[2].
