Sir William Marshal was killed in Action during the First War of Scottish Independence at the Battle of Bannockburn.

William was Marshal of Ireland, an inherited position which passed ultimately to his daughter Hawise and from her to William de Morley, her son by Robert, 2nd Lord Morley.[3]

William le Marshall: Born "on or about 24 Sep. 1277", he was "committed to the custody of John de Bohun" when his father died in 1282.[4][5] William was summoned to Parliament from 8 January 1308/9 to 26 November 1313 (2 Edw. II to 7 Edw. II) "by writs directed Willelmo le Mareschal, whereby he is held to have become Lord Marshal."[6]
