So what you think of connecting him to the possible father named Paschen Levenitch? Still looking for the actual record...further back gets murkier.

Tentative. There are only two records and neither appear to connect Paschen to Hans. It seems only the placename is allowing FS contributors to assume this relationship.

Do you think this is his marriage, Steven? I can add her if you need a break?

Certainly seems possible. If he lived from 1732-1792, that is consistent with this individual, and the marriage is one year before the child. So yeah if there are no others here in Stuer that it could be...

I agree, seems pretty likely, especially with the name being that rare.

@Maggy: Which source did Prange for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Prange-1 come from?

Florian, I saw that there were Prangs in Buffalo and also a surname in Germany. Clearly, I have no evidence for her surname being Prang. That's why I hid my comment about it in G2G. I actually have found not one iota for it.

I have been wondering if Christiana is from another village near Stuer. If they met after he left Stuer or in Buffalo because they seem to have children only in New York. I also wondered if her maiden surname is not Prander or Prang. Definitely Christiana Regina is a mystery. In New York State, early birth certificates in Buffalo are iffy and it's hard (for privacy reasons) to obtain all the information on all her children's death certificates. I keep looking at all the christening records of German Lutherans in Buffalo that have been digitalized. There are some microfilms, not digitalized, that are in Buffalo archives that I can access once Corvid pandemic is over.

In theory, I feel I have not looked under all the stones in Buffalo records for her maiden name. There are also German newspapers, printed in German, on microfilms that can be accessed after pandemic.

I'll be at work in the morning so you can connect that, and you then have a father of Ludwig Schmidt going back to 1693. Verify this before connecting of course.
