Joseph was born 3 April 1722 to Pierre Leclerc and Marie Angélique Bastien. He was baptized the next day at the Notre-Dame parish of Montréal in the colony of New France.[1][2]
1 Apr 1770 • St-Joseph-de-Soulanges, Les Cèdres, Province of Québec[6][7]
Research notes
His parentage was mistakenly given in Cyprien Tanguay’s Dictionnaire, and followed by many secondary sources. In January of 2017 the ‘Nosorigines’ database was showing the incorrect line, but now has the revision citing the PRDH database. Baptismal record and independent research in the records of Ste-Anne-du-Bout-de-l’Ile confirmed the revised lineage is accurate.
