Johann Heinrich Koithan was born at Mariendrebber, Germany, the son of Heinrich Christoph and Anna Margaretha (nee Kording) Koithan.
He married Dorothea Catharine Wolschapp. They had two children (Henrietta Catharina and Johann Friedrich) and migrated on the Australia from Bremen to Adelaide in 1849.[1][2]
Johann Heinrich Koithan died on 30 November 1887[3] and is buried at the Bethany Pioneer cemetery.
