Richard was born about 1788. (see notes)
Richard married (widow) Elizabeth Page in Lasham, Hampshire on 29 December 1830.[1] They had four sons together:
- Richard (1831-1909)
- William (1832)
- Thomas (1834)
- Solomon (1838-1925)
In 1841 Richard was living in Hampshire, England with wife Elizabeth and five children.

In 1841 Elizabeth, Richard and six children emigrated on New Zealand aboard the 'Bolton'.[3][4]
He passed away in 1876.
Notes
- Betty Bint writes in her research 1987: A very early settler. His wife (Elizabeth?) died 30.4.1851 (1857/541) and is interred in Nelson. A carpenter he chaired the meeting that created the first strike in Nelson 1843.
