Biography

When Martin Kauffman was born in 1770, in Shenandoah, Virginia, United States, his father, Martin Kauffman Jr, was 28 and his mother, Mary Taylor, was 18. He married Anna Miller in 1789, in Rockingham, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 8 daughters. He died in 1824, in Walnut Township, Fairfield, Ohio, United States, at the age of 54.

Martin Coffman was a founding member and elder of the Pleasant Run Primitive Baptist Church in Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1807. He shared pastoral duties with Samuel Comer and Lewis Sietz as they traveled the vicinity establishing other Baptist churches. These several Baptist groups were members of the Scioto Baptist Association.

Martin married Anna Miller, daughter of Samuel Miller and Mary Magadelene Wiley of Rockingham County, VA. Anna died about a year before her husband, in 1823. They had a family of 13 or 14 children who survived them.

Martin Coffman died in 1824 in Fairfield County, OH. He owned property in Walnut Township, Fairfield County, OH.
