Biography

Alfred Jones died as a result of persecution during the Holocaust.

Alfred was born on 18 August 1914 to George Jones and Ellen Jones nee Goddard and his birth was registered[1][2]during the third quarter of 1914 in the district of Neath, Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom.

Alfred was baptised[3]on 21 July 1915 in the parish of Aberavon, Glamorgan. At the time of the ceremony the family were residing in Velindre Street, Velindre, Port Talbot, Glamorgan and his father George Jones worked as a Railway Signalman.

Alfred, an officer Bombardier with the British Army was captured whilst fighting during World War II and sent to[4]was captured and sent to[5]on 4 September 1944 before being transferred one week later on 16 September 1944 to Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Mauthausen, Austria as a Protective Custody Prisoner. Alfred was executed just under two months later on 9 November 1944.
