Wallace's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1924 in the Bristol district.[1]
Wallace enlisted for War Service with the Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve and served as a Rear Gunner in a Lancaster crew.
In early 1944 the crew were assigned to 630 squadron based at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire. They took part in a few operations from the base but their final sortie was to join in a raid on Schweinfurt. They did not reach their target, their aircraft was shot down over the Black Forest and exploded after landing in a field near the village of Mühlhausen an der Würm, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany killing all the crew.
They were buried in the local village churchyard but later moved to the Commonwealth War Grave at Durnbach.[2]
