Biography

Notables Project
Bill Jenkins is Notable.

Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins was a dominant drag racing star in the Super Stock and Pro Stock categories in the mid- to late 1970s. He drove a white Chevrolet Camaro called "Grumpy's Toy."

He cultivated the "Grumpy" persona with a cigar in one corner of his mouth, which was probably why he also had the nickname "Jiggs," after the stogie-smoking character in the comic strip "Bringing Up Father" (Bill's great-uncle Horace Evans Jenkins was a cigar maker).

In 1940 he was living with his parents in Philadelphia.
